Benjamin C. Rothermel, Esq

Benjamin Rothermel brings a broad range of experiences that enables him to assist  clients across all stages of their business - from start-up and transactional phases to  adversarial matters.  He has represented clients with many facets of IP law, from drafting patent and trademark applications for individual entrepreneurs, to managing large patent portfolios for multinational companies, and defending IP rights of small businesses.

Mr. Rothermel advises clients in all areas of IP law, including due diligence and  prior art searching, application filing and prosecution, and enforcement. In addition to patent, trademark, and copyright, Ben also provides guidance on business formation, strategy, and development - particularly with respect to IP-related considerations. 

Prior to joining PnK IP, Mr. Rothermel practiced at a boutique IP law firm in Northern Virginia, where he prepared, revised, and prosecuted patent applications in various industries and disciplines. His areas of technical experience include materials science, chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, green technology, telecommunications, electrical engineering, consumer electronics, and software.

Mr. Rothermel holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the College of William & Mary, as well as a J.D. with a specialty in IP law from the University of Pittsburgh. He is registered as a patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to the bars of Virginia and New York.
